Why swerve?

A swerve drivetrain steers every wheel independently, so the robot can move in any direction without turning its body. That is a real advantage in tight spaces and under defence. The cost is that all four modules have to be right, mechanically and in software — a demanding choice for a first season, and a very instructive one.

Weight budget

FRC rules cap how much the robot may weigh. Every gram spent on the chassis is a gram we will want back for a mechanism later. So we track the weight budget as a spreadsheet from day one of the season.

What gets added here at the end of the season

  • Final dimensions and weight
  • CAD files and STEP exports
  • Link to the robot code on GitHub
  • Match videos
  • An end-of-season review of what worked and what did not
